11,000 soldiers from Germany will move back to Britain by 2016 and Swanton Morley has been chosen as one of the bases to house them.
Norfolk MP George Freeman confirmed the base near Dereham had been chosen to be the home of some of the returning soldiers on Twitter.
He said: "The Light Dragoons will be moving to Catterick - closer to their recruiting area. 1st Queens Dragoons coming to Swanton Morley"
Mr Freeman also confirmed more money would be spent at Swanton Morley to improve the base:
"Great news: Defense Secrty announces Swanton Morley barracks will be one of 7 UK Core Bases on which investment will be focussed #ArmyBasing"
The Light Dragoons are expected to leave the Robertson Barracks in 2015, and will be replaced by 1st The Queen’s Dragoon Guards, who are returning from Germany.
