Swanton Morley: Solidier Repatriated

A soldier from the Swanton Morley based Light Dragoons, who was killed in Afganistan at the weekend, will be brought back to the UK today.

Sergeant Lee Davidson died on Sunday after his Ridgeback vehicle was hit by a roadside bomb while patrolling in the Helmand province of Afghanistan.

The 32-year-old, from the The Light Dragoons in Norfolk, will be flown into RAF Brize Norton in Oxfordshire, where a private ceremony for the family will be held on the air base. The cortege will be escorted at walking pace past the memorial garden in Carterton, where the Union flag will be hung at half-mast and members of the public are expected to gather. 

Sgt Davidson, from Doncaster, South Yorkshire, leaves wife Samantha, pregnant with his daughter, and sons Jayden and Jamie, is the 427th member of UK forces to have died since operations in Afghanistan began in October 2001.
