Detectives have charged a man with attempted murder dating back to the summer of 1996.
It is the result of an unsolved case review with the attempted murder and rape of a woman dating back 17 years.
Peter John Carroll, 55, from Aylesbury in Buckinghamshire, was charged by officers from the Joint Norfolk and Suffolk Major Investigation Team.
He was remanded in custody to appear at Norwich Magistrates Court on Saturday morning.
The charges relate to an incident involving a 20-year-old woman in the White Horse Lane area of Trowse, Norwich, on Saturday 20 July 1996.
