Young Dancers Get Theatre Royal Chance

English Youth Ballet is searching for 100 young dancers to star in a major stage production of Sleeping Beauty at the Norwich Theatre Royal in July.

Auditions are taking place at the Open Academy on the 17th of March, the ballet company is looking for people aged eight to 18 to take part. The auditions will be separated into two parts for children aged eight to 11 and then again for children aged 12 and up.

John Bultitude of the Norwich Theatre Royal said: “If the young people miss out on a part they will get the chance to spend an hour or so working alongside some of this country’s top dancers.”

English Youth Ballet has had used this method in Norwich in the past, after holding successful auditions for a production of Coppelia two years ago. John continues: “The standard of talent was really, really high so they are hoping that once again they can do that. So high, in fact, that last time one of the young people they found actually got the lead role.”

Anyone who wants to take part is advised to register first by calling 01689 856747 or 01248 422337. They will then receive an Audition Pack which gives full details for students and parents.
