Police are looking in to an attempted abduction in Roade village on Friday night (May 11th)

At some time between 8pm and 8.30pm, an 11-year-old boy was walking home along High Street, Roade.

On the approach from the Cock public house to the junction with The Leys, the boy spotted a white transit van parked by the side of the road.

A man standing by the van stuck out his arm and blocked the boy's path, telling the boy to get into the van.

The boy punched the man in the face, knocking him to the ground, and then ran off.

The man is described as white, aged around 50, of average height and medium build. He had a bald head and big wide eyes. We do not have a clothing description.

The man was driving a white van, possibly a Ford Transit, The van drove off in the direction of Northampton Road and Hartwell Road.

We are issuing an artist's impression of the man we would like to trace in connection with this incident.

Detective Inspector Nick Purdie said: "This is a worrying incident but I would stress that it is the only one we have had. I am appealing for any witnesses to this incident or information in relation to any suspicious white van in the Roade area on Friday. If you recognise this man then please get in touch with us as a matter of urgency, also if you noticed two men acting suspiciously in the village on Friday."
