Corby Link Road Closures Update

Engineers at Northants County Council have told Heart work on the completion of a new road bridge and the re-alignment of the existing Little Oakley to Great Oakley road will take two days longer than expected.

It means the road between Great Oakley and Little Oakley will fully re-open in the early hours of Sunday, 16th March 2014 and not early tomorrow (Friday) as first stated.

The unclassified road between Mill Hill, Great Oakley and Newton Road will now be closed on the morning of Sunday 16th March 2014.

Local traffic (excluding Heavy Goods Vehicles)

  • Traffic from Newton and Geddington will be diverted westbound on Newton Road to the new Barford Bridge roundabout, onto the A6003 northbound to Corby and Great Oakley.
  • Traffic from Great Oakley will be diverted down the A6003 southbound to the new Barford Bridge roundabout, use the 2nd exit towards Newton and Geddington.

The section of Newton Road between the A6003 Barford Bridge roundabout and the Newton T junction will subsequently be closed on Friday 28th March 2014 and will be fully re-opened on Saturday 12th April 2014.

Local Traffic (excluding Heavy Goods Vehicles)

  • Traffic from Newton and Geddington will be diverted towards Great Oakley and the A6003 Oakley Hay roundabout.

Advanced warning signs will be in place during the week leading up to the closures, to alert people to diversions.
