Police investigating the death of a woman from Northampton hit by a lorry on the M1 are trying to find two men who were on a bridge nearby.

The 42 year old woman from the Wootton area of Northampton had been in lane one of the southbound carriageway of the M1 near Newport Pagnell, Milton Keynes when she was hit.  She died at the scene.

This all happened just before 11am on Tuesday 27 March 2012.  It's not clear what the woman was doing on the motorway.

The two men - who are believed to be in their late forties or early fifties  - were on the overbridge off Tongwell Lane, in Newport Pagnell, at the time of the incident.  One of the men was wearing a high visibility jacket.

Sgt Simon Hills, from Thames Valley Police's Roads Policing Department, said: “These two men would have been directly over the scene at the time of the collision so it likely that they may be able to provide valuable information to the investigation and I would urge them to get in touch.”

Anyone with any information who saw the collision with the pedestrian is asked to contact Sgt Hills via the Thames Valley Police Enquiry Centre on 101.

If you don't want to speak directly to the police you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or online at crimestoppers-uk.org. No personal details are taken, information is not traced or recorded and you will not go to court.
