Police have charged a 47 year old man with the murder of a Hungarian pensioner found dead in his home in Wellingborough in July.

Karoly Varga (right) was 76 and known to his friends as 'Charlie'.  His body was found at his home in Cannon Street, Wellingborough, Northamptonshire on Saturday 30 July 2011 but police think he was killed three days earlier.

The 47 year old man who has been charged with murder is from Wellingborough.  He was arrested just before midday on Monday 19 December 2011.  He was due to appear before Wellingborough Magistrates Court on Tuesday 20 December.

Speaking shortly after Mr Varga's death, his family said they were keen to hear from anyone with information regarding the grandfather's death.

"He worked very hard throughout his working life, integrating into the community and running a family business. He will be missed, not only by his family but those he helped as well," they said.

"We desperately need to understand why our father was taken from us so suddenly and in such a terrible manner."
