A new website has been launched to provide Northamptonshire residents with everything they need to know about what’s happening in the county in the lead up to London 2012.

The new website - www.northamptonshire2012.com - has been produced by Northamptonshire Enterprise in partnership with Northamptonshire County Council, Northamptonshire Sport and Northamptonshire NHS.

The website is a guide to all of the cultural and sporting activities that are happening in Northamptonshire in the lead up to the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, in particular focusing on planned Legacy Trust UK Igniting Ambition events and projects for 2011 as part of the Cultural Olympiad programme in Northamptonshire.

It also provides information on the LOCOG–approved pre-games training camps in the county, London 2012 business contract opportunities, Northamptonshire’s 2012 Strategy and the latest local, regional and national 2012 news.

Councillor David Mackintosh, county council cabinet member for strategy, communications and external relations said: “London 2012 might still be more than a year away, but in Northamptonshire plans for the lead up to the event are really taking shape.

“Organisations across the county are working in partnership to co-ordinate a series of activities and events to take place over the coming year as we aim to bring more music, sport and culture to people in the county.

“From art installations to sports events, the new website will be the best place to find out about what’s going on and how to take part or get involved.  You can also sign up to the Twitter feed @northants2012 to hear the latest announcements as they are made.”
