Scarecrows Won't Frighten Olympic Torch

The Harpole Scarecrow Festival has secured the rights to display the original golden 2012 Olympic Torch.

Normally the event in the village of Harpole, west of Northampton, sees some 10,000 visitors to its' own unique annual
display of hundreds of scarecrows across acres of fields in all different poses - and made up in all different characters.

But thanks to one of the village's residents working for the sponsor of the 2012 Olympic Torch, he's managed to persuade the organisers to bring the rather special piece of the London Games to the village for the weekend.

Thousands of people are expected to take up the opportunity to have their picture taken with the torch as much of the region will be missed when the official torch relay makes it way through through UK next summer.

Some of the main official stopping points will be:-
