Text Shock After Nursery Theft
22 March 2010, 00:00
Staff at St Michael's Playgroup in Finedon discovered on Saturday that they had been broken into.
A window had been broken at their building sometime on Friday night and the burglars had found the filing cabinets where things had been locked away.
They made off with a laptop, two cash boxes containing a large amount of money and a camera containing pictures of some of the children at the nursery. There are no names of the children included with any of the photos.
The centre's mobile phone had also been taken and staff decided to sent a text message to it, in the hope that it may have been found somewhere. But they received a text message saying: "cheers for the stuff mate, what you gonna do about it?!"
Playgroup Manager Pauline Luck told Heart: "We we so angry that somebody could have done this to the children here, who are aged from two to five years old, that we sent a text saying why did you do it? I couldn't believe that they'd got the cheek to text back. We're all feeling physically sick at the moment."
Anyone who may have seen anything suspicious around the centre in St John's Rooms in Milner Road in Finedon is urged to contact the police on 03000 111 222 or contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
