One driver didn't even have a taxi licence.
PC David Lee, of the Safer Roads Team, said: “People using taxis have a right to expect them to be safe and legal, and for the people driving them to be following rules that are in place to protect both them and other road users.
“It was disappointing to find so many issues in the vehicles we checked but this is why we carry out operations like this, to identify issues, make sure they are resolved, and remind drivers and firms of their responsibilities.”
