Wheelchairs Stolen From Team

Northamptonshire Police are describing as 'despicable' the theft of 15 wheelchairs belonging to a wheelchair basketball team, which were stolen in Wellingborough.

The chairs were in a blue line box trailer taken from the Wellingborough Phoenix Wheelchair Basketball Club at the Weavers Sports Centre in the town some time between 9pm on Sunday 18 December 2011 and 5am on Monday 19 December.

District Commander Chief Inspector Vaughan Clarke commented "This is a despicable crime which will affect the lives of disabled people.

"We are appealing to the conscience of those that are aware of what has happened to the trailer and wheelchairs to call either us or Crimestoppers so that we can return them to Wellingborough Phoenix Wheelchair Basketball Club."
