Police are investigating after a man was found with stab wounds in South Shields.
They got reports on Sunday evening that a man had been stabbed outside and address on River Drive.
The man, a 60-year-old, was taken to the RVI hospital where he is receiving treatment. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
A 31-year-old man has been arrested and is helping police with their enquiries.
It is believed the two men were known to each other.
Extra patrols are taking place to reassure residents in the area and to gather information.
