He is described as white 5ft 9 inches tall, of stocky build and with grey short hair. He was last seen wearing knee length shorts and a short sleeved checked shirt. He has an ear piercing in his left ear.

Chief Inspector Jerry Pearson, of Sunderland Area Command, said:
"It is now two weeks since Robert was seen, it is completely out of character for him to go missing and not to make contact with his family for so long and we are becoming increasingly concerned for him.

It maybe that someone who saw him before he went missing can give us vital information that could lead us to finding him, I'd ask people to think back and remember whether or not they have had any contact with Robert in the past few weeks.

Any members of the local community in and around Hendon or anyone who knows him and that has seen him or has any information about where he might be, is urged to come forward so his family can be reassured he is safe and well."

CCTV footage has shown him filling his car, a blue Nissan Micra registration number LT03 0ZJ, with fuel at 4.40pm at the petrol station at Asda supermarket in Leechemere.

Extensive enquiries are being carried out to trace Robert and yesterday, his daughter, Paula appealed for him to come home.

Officers are asking Robert, or anyone who has seen him in the past few weeks to get in contact.

Chief Inspector Jerry Pearson said:
"It's now almost two weeks since Robert was last seen after leaving a family member's home in Hendon. He had an appointment a few days later which he hasn't attended and understandably his family are becoming increasingly concerned.

As we understand he was fit and well when he was last seen, however, it is out of character for him to go missing and not to see his family for this length of time and clearly this raises our concern.

Robert's family are desperate to hear from him and we have officers working closely with them to keep them updated with our enquiries and make sure they have all the support they need.

If anyone has seen him in the past few weeks we want them to come forward and speak to us, it could be they have vital information that can help find him and put his family's mind at rest that he safe and well."

Robert, or anyone who has any information about where he is, is asked to contact Northumbria Police on 101 ext 69191 quoting reference 410 260614.
