Unions have issued a last-ditch plea to save hundreds of threatened jobs at the SSI steel plant in Redcar, warning that the livelihoods of thousands of families are at stake.
SSI announced a "pause'' in iron and steelmaking at its plant in Redcar on Friday.
That's as well as the mothballing of one of its coke ovens, raising fears about the future of steelmaking in the area.
Heart's reporter Martin Lindsay's been along to a press conference, held by the Community union earlier, and has this report.
