Big city organised crime groups are still targeting Furness.
Two London gang members have been jailed alongside a Barrow drug dealer.
The South Cumbria Drugs Unit found them with heroin and cocaine in December after stopping a street deal by local woman, 40-year old Karen McCullough.
The trio appeared at Preston Crown Court on Thursday (March 8th) after previously pleading guilty to possession with intent to supply Class A drugs:
- Karen McCullough, 40, of Rawlinson Street, Barrow, was sentenced to 10 months in prison;
- Lyndon Koroma, 19, of Dodson Street, Southwark, London, was sentenced to 5 years in prison (he was handed 3 years for the above crime, and an extra 2 years for another offence);
- John Rogers, 20, of Hawkstone Road, Southwark, London, was sentenced to 2 years and 8 months in prison.
A spokesperson for South Cumbria Drugs Squad said: “Unfortunately, these types of Organised Crime Groups continue to target the South Furness area. They target vulnerable people in the community and exploit people for their own gain.
“On this occasion they have travelled hundreds of miles to set up a drug supply network in the town.
“The drug squad is actively targeting gangs such as these and we will use all powers open to us to make sure they are placed in front of the courts and dealt with for their roles in these criminal enterprises.”
