A 16-year-old boy has died after a collision near Sefton Park last night.
The boy suffered serious head injuries on Mossley Hill Drive at around 7.40pm and died later in hospital.
Police were called out to a collision involving a black Audi and a pedestrian.
The driver of the car left the scene on foot. A man was later detained close to the car and has been taken to a police station in Merseyside to be interviewed.
A 24-year-old man from Dingle is being questioned on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
CCTV's being examined from near the scene, road closures have also been in place.
