Too many empty desks in Flinshire

Council looks at cutting surplus spaces.

In the consultation documents it says that "The Welsh Government and Flintshire County Council want to make efficiencies and reduce surplus places to enable more available funding to be spent directly on children and young people's education in schools.

The School Modernisation Strategy is looking at three areas where they say the have a 'significant' number of surplus places.

The review now looks at Holywell, Queensferry/Shotton/Connah's Quay, and Buckley/Mynydd Isa/Mold, with a number of options being put forward which include the merger of some schools.

Elfed High School, 27th February.
Westwood Primary School, 28th February.
Buckley Area Consortium Schools, 29th February (Elfed High School)

Queensferry, Shotton, Connah's Quay area:
Connah's Quay High School, 5th March
John Summers High School, 6th March
Deeside Area Consortium Schools, 12 March (Deeside Leisure Centre)

Holywell Area:
Holywell High School, 13th March
Ysgol Perth y Terfyn and Ysgol y Fron, 14th March (Ysgol y Fron)
Holywell Area Consortium, 19th March (Holywell High School)
