Van may be linked to Salford shooting

Officers are continuing to investigate after a man was shot in the leg in Salford.

Shortly before 7.30pm on Tuesday 12 February 2019, police were called to a house on Duchy Road in Salford to reports that a man had been shot.

Firearms officers attended the scene and an investigation was launched.

A short time later, a 27-year-old man presented himself at hospital with three gunshot wounds to his legs. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

A burnt out white Ford Transit, which police believe is linked to the shooting, was discovered shortly before 7.45pm in Lightoaks Park in Salford.

Detective Chief Inspector Chris Packer, of GMP’s Salford district, said: “I know that people in the area may be concerned or worried about what has happened, but please be assured that are doing everything we can to find those responsible.

“We are still working to establish the full circumstances surrounding the attack, but there is not believed to be any threat to the wider community.

“You may notice an increased police presence in the area as officers continue with their enquiries in the next few days.

“If you saw anything suspicious, or if you know anything about what happened, please get in touch with us as a matter of urgency."
