Power Station 'an eyesore'

Didcot Power Station's been named one of Britain's biggest eyesores in a survey.

The poll by Beautiful Britain Magazine's put the plant in seventh place.

Birmingham's Spaghetti Junction was named Britain's worst eyesore, with the Watford Gap service station on the M1 in Northamptonshire also in the list.

Didcot Power Station is actually two power stations - the coal-fired Didcot A and gas-fired Didcot B - which together produce enough electricity for three million people, equivalent to the demand of three counties the size of Oxfordshire.

The Power Station's been in operation since 1970 and its cooling towers can be seen across south Oxfordshire.
