Cambs & Peterborough: Domestic Abuse Arrests

Nine people have been arrested in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough during a day of action tackling domestic abuse.

Four men from Peterborough, three from Cambridge, one from Whittlesey and one from Littleport were arrested when officers visited homes yesterday (Wednesday).

The men were arrested on suspicion of either assault or harassment.

The majority released on bail, however one man has been charged and is due to appear at Peterborough Magistrates Court next month.

Detective Inspector Lorraine Parker said: "Yesterday’s day of action was part of the unit’s ongoing work to tackle domestic abuse.

I would also encourage anyone who is a victim of abuse not to suffer in silence and take that first step towards seeking help.

In April we launched the force’s first Domestic Abuse Investigations and Safeguarding Unit (DAISU) to investigate all domestic abuse crimes, meaning victims deal with specially trained officers."
