A Wisbech man has been attacked by between ten and 15 men inside his own home.

The 35 year old victim was at home in Harecroft Road at about 10pm last night when the group of men made their way inside.

He was then attacked and stabbed.

The man suffered head injuries and was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital for treatment.

His current condition is not known.

A neighbour, who tried to help the man, was also hurt.

Police believe the gang arrived and left the scene in cars, and detectives remain at the scene investigating today.

Detective Inspector Lorraine Parker, who is investigating, said: "A young family were in the house at the time of this incident and have been left very distressed.

This appears to have been an isolated incident and not a random attack.

We are keen to speak to anyone who saw a group of men in the area between 8pm and 10pm on Sunday.

We will treat any information sensitively and in confidence. People can also provide information by calling Crimestoppers anonymously."

Anyone with any information about the attack is asked to call Fenland CID on 0345 456 456 4, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
