A man has been punched to the ground and then stabbed in the chest in Wisbech as he made his way home from a night out.

The 22 year old man was dropped off by friends in Weasenham Lane at around midnight last Monday (13th September) when a group of three men shouted at him.

After an argument, the victim was punched to the ground and then stabbed in the chest.

He was seriously hurt and taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital but was treated and released the next day.

Police say one of the attackers had a tattoo behind one ear that continued down his neck.

DC Mark Yendley, who is investigating, said: "This appears to have been an unprovoked attack on a man who was simply walking home after a night out.

One of the attackers has a very distinctive tattoo and I would urge anyone who recognises his description to call police."

Anyone with any information is asked to call police on 0345 456 456 4 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
