Pilot Dies In Peterborough Plane Crash

A pilot has died after the light aircraft he was flying crashed near Peterborough.

The plane hit an electricity pylon when it went down near Sibson Airfield next to the A1 yesterday afternoon just before 2pm.

The A1 is going to stay closed until at least midday, while repairs are done to the cables over the road.

Diversions are in place and drivers including those going to the Burghley horse trials are advised to avoid the area.

The scene of the crash, has been cordoned off and the Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) has been informed.

There were no other people on board the plane.
