Stilton: Ram Raid At Store

Thieves have unsuccessfully tried to steal a cash machine from a shop in Stilton.

Police say three men used a 4x4 to break through the doors of Stilton Store in North Street just before 4am yesterday (Thursday).

Once they got inside the men tried to steal a cash machine, but couldn't rip the ATM out of the ground.

They then left the scene in another car, believed to have been an Audi.

However the 4x4 was left at the scene and is now being examined by Police.

Detective Inspector Alan Page, who is investigating, said: "I would appeal to anyone who saw either vehicle prior to the ram raid or where the Audi went afterwards to call police."

Cambridgeshire Police are keeping 'an open mind' as to whether the raid is linked to recent ram-raids at banks in Long Sutton and Wisbech.

Anyone with any information is asked to call DI Page on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
