Best Dressed List

Vanity Fair's best dressed list has just been published. Who do you think is the best dressed celebrity and who is the worst?

From Lady Gaga's outrageous outfits to the classic style of Samantha Cameron, Carla Bruni-Sarkozy and Michelle Obama, this year's best dressed list is going to split people's opinion.

Some of the stars are easy to predict, like the elegant Diane Kruger with her understated, monochrome dress sense. Others, like English actress Helena Bonham Cartern with her signature Victorian-Gothic outfits, are certainly less obvious choices, but all these celebrities have one thing in common: they have been chosen by Vanity Fair for their personal style and not just for how well they carry off a label.

An Education star Carey Mulligan makes an appearance with her gamine, pixie look, reminiscent of 60s actress such as Jean Seberg and Audrey Hepburn. The 25 year old likes to keep her look simple with pieces by Prada, Miu Miu and Lanvin.

Maggie Gyllenhaal too makes the list, thanks to her glamorous and grown up style. The actress is often seen wearing labels such as Prada, Yves Saint Laurent, RM by Roland Mouret and Lanvin. Her brother Jake scrubs up rather well too in suits by Salvatore Ferragamo.

Spanish actor Javier Bardem is always very stylish whether he's dressed in jeans and t-shirts or a Gucci suit, and that's why he's been voted one of the best dressed, much like David Beckham. Let's face it, both actors would look good and probably would make the list even if they were wearing a skirt - in fact, Beckham proved that a few years ago wearing his infamous sarong!
