    Iconic TV Soap Couples

    Facebook share Twitter share

As Neighbours, who lets face it had one of the most iconic TV couples in history with our very own Jason Donovan and Kylie Minogue, celebrates its 30th anniversary we look back at the most loveable couples in soap and TV.

    1. Scott and Charlene in Neighbours

      1. Scott and Charlene: Neighbours

Everyone's favourite teenage sweethearts had us rooting for them throughout their time together in the Australian soap. Heartthrob Scott Robinson and the gorgeous Charlene Mitchell go through their fair share of teething problems as any young couple do, but go on to get hitched and going on to having two kids together. 2. Den and Angie Watts Eastenders

      2. Den and Angie Watts: Eastenders

Not all paths to true love run smoothly, and no couple knows this better than Angela Watts and her hubby Den. The loud mouthed, alcoholic Queen Vic landlady is famous for a turbulent relationship with her man, AKA Dirty Den which sadly ends in divorce on Christmas Day in 1985 after years of adultery and unhappiness from both parties. 3. Krystal and Blake Carrington Dynasty

      3. Krystal and Blake Carrington: Dynasty

Krystal Carrington epitomises the dutiful wife and devoted family matriarch. A socialite and the second wife of oil tycoon Blake Carrington she was no stranger to the oversized shoulder pad. Like any good soap couple, the pair had to overcome many obstacles along their path to married happiness, not least the unforgiving natures of Blake's two children from his first marriage and his meddling ex-wife Alexis, played by Joan Collins.

    4. Bobby and Pam Ewing Dallas

      4. Bobby and Pam Ewing: Dallas

Primetime soap opera 'Dallas' wouldn't have been the same without Pamela Ewing. When gorgeous Pam marries into the wealthy Ewing family via the dashing Bobby Ewing, (he of the white toothed smile that you could see from the moon,) she is initially received with suspicion by her new extended family. Pam's total love for her husband holds strong across the divide however, despite his families disapproval. Picture: Getty

    5. Vera and Jack Duckworth

      5. Vera and Jack Duckworth: Coronation Street

Another rocky marriage was that of Jack and Vera Duckworth. The pair had a tumultuous relationship due to their difficult son and extramarital relationships with other people. Fans of the show will always remember the time Vera pretended to be widow and tricked Jack into meeting her for a date, before calling him out in front of the watching crowds! Picture: Rex

    6. Ricky and Bianca Eastenders

      6. Ricky and Bianca: Eastenders

If you were a fan of the Eastenders in the 90s we guarantee you'll be hearing Bianca Jackson's shrill voice screaming "Rickaaaaay!" in your head right now. Despite their bumpy start (Ricky cheated on her with Natalie whilst the two of them are going out), but the love birds finally get married in 1997. Picture: Rex

    7. Carrie and Mr Big Sex and the City

      7. Carrie and Mr Big: Sex and the City

Will they, won't they… won't they, will they? The roller coaster relationship of Manhattanite Carrie Bradshaw and her older lover was followed with avid attention by millions throughout the noughties. Despite both characters having multiple other partners throughout the popular TV show's six seasons, true love came right in the end for the star crossed lovers. Picture: Rex

    8. Alfie and Kat Moon

      8. Alfie and Kat Moon: Eastenders

Sharp tongued Kat and loveable Alfie may not seem like the most natural match in the world, but we all know that opposites can attract, especially in the world of soaps. Fiery Kat has never had much luck with men, and it isn't until she plans to wed London gagster Andy Hunter that she finally confesses to Alfie's gran that she is in fact in love with him. On discovering this fact, Alfie rushes in like a knight in shining armour and stops the wedding. Hurrah! Picture: Press

    9. Kermit and Miss Piggy

      9. Kermit and Miss Piggy: The Muppets

They may not be married, but that won't stop Miss Piggs and Kermit the Frog making it into our gallery of the best TV couples ever! The glamorous lady pig has tried endless times to wed her handsome green frog, but every wedding the pair have in fact had, has been fictional. Picture: Getty

    10. One Foot in the Grave Victor and Margaret Meldrew

      10. Victor and Margaret Meldrew: One Foot in the Grave

Any wearisome wife will sympathise with Victor Meldrew's wife Margaret. The sitcom deals with the couples suburban life together and as they battle through the misfortunes or everyday life. Although often exasperated by her other half, Margaret sticks with her husband through thick and thin. Bless. Picture: Rex

    12. Rachel and Ross Friends

      12. Rachel and Ross: Friends

Everyone's favourite on-again-off-again couple delighted TV audiences in the 90s, as the unlikely friends grew to care for each other and eventually fall in love and have a daughter together. Rachel Green and Ross Geller made us laugh and cry on their journey together and we love them all the more for it. Picture: PA

    13. Barry and Shelia Grant Brookside

      13. Barry and Sheila Grant: Brookside

Fans of the soap Brookside in the 80s knew Sheila Grant for her big hair and devout religious views. The on-screen mother-of-three and her socialist husband Bobby worked hard and supported one another, until it broke up in the late 1980s after the couple's son Damon was murdered. Picture: Rex

    14. The Brady Bunch
