A teenage boy whose body was recovered from a reservoir has been named by police.

Ben Thomson, 14, died at Glenburn Reservoir in Paisley, Renfrewshire, on Tuesday evening.

He was from the Glenburn area of the town.

Emergency services launched a major search operation after reports of a person in the water at the site near Braehead Road.

Police, fire and ambulance crews were sent to the scene just after 5.30pm and Ben's body was recovered at around 8.10pm that day.

Police Scotland's dive and marine unit was also involved in the search.

Officers said a post-mortem examination will take place in due course to establish the exact cause of death, but it is not being treated as suspicious.

A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.
