CCTV Image Released As Police Search For Grassmarket Attackers

Police have released a CCTV image of three men they want to trace in connection with an assault which left a man seriously injured.

The 21-year-old was in Edinburgh's Grassmarket with another man the same age when they were attacked.

He suffered serious facial injuries and needed hospital treatment.

The second man was also assaulted, but was not injured.

Police are appealing for information about the incident, which happened between 1.30am and 1.45am on Sunday November 27 last year, and are keen to trace the three men pictured.

Detective Constable Andy Cory said: ''We've conducted numerous inquiries in the area since the incident, but are today appealing for the public's help.

''Anyone who recognises these men is urged to contact us as soon as possible.

''Likewise, if the men see this appeal, they are asked to get in touch with us themselves.''

All three men are described as being aged in their 20s.

The first is 5ft 10in, of medium build, with black hair and stubble. He was wearing a light blue long-sleeved shirt and black trousers.

The second man is 5ft 7in, of slim build, with dark hair, and he was wearing a light jumper and dark jeans.

The third man is 6ft, of medium build, with dark hair, and he was wearing a black shirt and black trousers.

The trio were last seen heading in the direction of Victoria Street.
