A driver involved in a rush hour crash was the victim of a targeted attack, police have said.

The 22-year-old man was seriously assaulted after the collision with a black car in Anniesland on Tuesday.

He was driving a silver Renault Scenic on Fulton Street when the incident happened around 5.30pm.

Police say several men then got out of the other vehicle and attacked him with weapons.

The victim was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment and has since been released.

Detective Constable Jennifer Adams said: "From our enquiries so far it appears that this was a targeted attack.

"This type of violent and reckless behaviour will not be tolerated and it is vital that anyone who may be able to assist our investigation comes forward.

"If you were in the area on Tuesday evening and witnessed the incident, or noticed either vehicle on the road, please get in touch."

Anyone with information is asked to call 101.
