Drug arrest after teens fall ill

A teenager has been arrested after six 13-year-olds were treated in hospital following a suspected drug incident.

The group were taken to Crosshouse Hospital near Kilmarnock after falling unwell around 6.25pm on Saturday.

They were kept in overnight for observations with police issuing a warning over a batch of tablets the teenagers were thought to have taken.

A 17-year-old male has now been arrested and charged over alleged drugs offences.

A report is to be sent to the Procurator Fiscal and he is due to appear at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Monday.
