A teenager who died in a car crash in the Borders has been named by police.
Lisa Bahmani, 18, who died following the two-car crash on Wednesday which also left a pensioner seriously injured, was described as a "special loving girl'' by her family.
In a statement released via the police, the family said: "Lisa was a much-loved daughter, sister and friend. She was a special loving girl who loved animals.
"Lisa will be sorely missed by all who knew her. We are grateful for all the messages of support.''
The accident happened on the A68 south of the village of Newton St Boswells at around 8pm.
Ms Bahmani was driving a Hyundai Getz and was taken to Borders General Hospital where she later died.
A 71-year-old woman behind the wheel of a Suzuki Ignis is in a serious condition at the same hospital while her male passenger, 78, is being treated for non-life-threatening chest injuries.
Police have appealed for witnesses.
Sergeant Neil Inglis said: "Tragically this collision has resulted in the death of a young woman and the driver of the other vehicle remains in a very serious condition in hospital.
"We are continuing with our investigation to establish the full circumstances surrounding this collision and would urge any motorists who were on the A68 at around 8pm on Wednesday to contact us immediately if they witnessed the incident.
"In addition, anyone with any further information relevant to this inquiry should also get in touch.''
