Man dies after fire in Falkirk

A man has died after an early morning house fire in Falkirk.

Emergency services were alerted to the blaze in a first-floor flat in Davids Loan at about 4.30 am on Saturday.

Scottish Fire and Rescue Service sent six appliances to the scene, with firefighters wearing breathing apparatus tackling the flames.

A fire service spokeswoman said: "One casualty was removed but sadly passed away."

Police Scotland confirmed that a man had died as a result of the incident.

"A joint investigation is under way to establish the full circumstances surrounding this fire," a spokesman said.
