A man has died following a hit-and-run in Edinburgh.
The 57-year-old was struck by a vehicle at around 8.10pm on Thursday in the Comiston Road/Buckstone Terrace area.
He'd fallen into the road and was then hit by a small dark coloured vehicle.
A Police Scotland spokesman confirmed the car involved failed to stop at the scene.
He was found by a member of the public who contacted the emergency services.
The man was taken to the Edinburgh Royal Infirmary for treatment, however was pronounced dead at a short time later.
Police are now appealing to the public for information.
Inspector Richard Latto said: "This was a fatal road traffic collision, where a vehicle failed to stop.
"This incident occurred on a busy road and with this in mind, we are appealing for any witnesses who may have been in the area last night to come forward.
"Anyone who has information, or recognises the description of the car, is asked to contact police immediately."
