A man has appeared in court charged over two fires at a Sikh temple and Methodist church in Edinburgh.
The alleged incidents happened at the Guru Nanak Gurdwara Sahib in Sheriff Brae and The City of Edinburgh Methodist Church in Junction Place in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Paul Johnson, 49, was arrested by police and appeared in private at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Thursday charged with fire-raising and wilful fire-raising to danger of life.
He made no plea and was remanded in custody with the case continued for further examination, the Crown Office said.
The 49-year-old is due to make a second court appearance within the next eight days.
