Man in hospital after attack in Paisley

A 46-year-old-man is being treated for serious injuries after being assaulted in a "violent" attack in Renfrewshire.

The incident happened at 7.50am on Saturday on Netherhill Road, Paisley, when he was approached by a man and a woman and kicked and punched "multiple" times.

The man was taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital, where he is being treated for serious injuries.

The male assailant is described as being in his mid-20s, 5ft 10ins, slim and with short, dark brown hair. He was wearing a grey and black Boss tracksuit.

The woman was in her early 20s, 5ft 6ins, slim and with long, dark brown hair. She was wearing a pink zip-up top and black leggings.

Detective Constable Jennifer Piggott, of Paisley police office, said: "This was a violent attack which has left a man in hospital.

"Officers have been carrying out door-to-door inquiries and checking CCTV to trace those responsible.

"We are appealing to anyone who may have been in the area at the time who may have seen something that could help us in our enquiries."
