Missing student's relatives told of body find

The family of a student who went missing more than two months ago has been told of a body being discovered.

Officers were called to West Sands beach, St Andrews, after human remains were found in the water.

Duncan Sim, 19, went missing on March 14 after leaving Madras Rugby Club in the town at about 11.15pm.

It is understood his relatives have been made aware of a body being found, but formal identification has not taken place.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "At 6.25pm on Sunday officers from Fife Police attended West Sands, St Andrews, after the discovery of what is believed to be human remains were found within the water.

"Inquiries remain ongoing at this time."
