A motorcyclist is feared to have suffered life-changing injuries in a serious road accident in Midlothian.
The accident happened on the B704 at its junction with Carrington Road, Gorebridge, at 12.50pm on Wednesday and involved a black Ducati Diavel Strada and a Fiat 500L.
The 48-year-old male rider suffered leg and back injuries and was taken by ambulance to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, where he is said to be in a serious condition.
The 45-year-old female driver of the Fiat was uninjured.
The accident led to the closure of the road for around two hours while initial investigations took place, and Police Scotland say inquiries into the cause of the accident are ongoing.
Inspector Richard Latto said: ''This is a serious collision which could result in life-changing injuries for the rider.
''We are investigating this incident and are eager to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the collision.
''I would urge anyone who was on the B704 around lunchtime on Wednesday March 15 and has information to get in touch with police immediately.''
