Robbers Threaten Elderly Couple In Ayr Home

An elderly couple have been robbed of jewellery and money in a ''terrifying ordeal'' in their own home.

Three men forced their way into the house on St Phillans Avenue, Ayr, at around 10am on Monday.

Police said they threatened the couple before stealing a quantity of jewellery and cash and making off in the direction of Forehill Road.

The suspects are all thought to be aged in their late teens to mid-20s and they were wearing dark clothing and baseball caps.

Officers are appealing for any witnesses and want to trace a white car with three men inside which was seen in St Phillans Avenue before the robbery.

Detective Constable Chris Rae said: ''This was a terrifying ordeal for an elderly couple who have been left badly shaken by what happened.

''Officers are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen three men matching the above description in the Forehill area around the time of the incident.

''We are also keen to trace a small white car with three men within, which was seen in St Phillans Avenue prior to the robbery taking place.

''Police are also appealing to anyone who may have been driving within St Phillans Avenue area with access to an in-car camera to make contact with police.
