Three people have been arrested and charged in connection with the death of a man at the weekend.

Arif Mahmood, 26, died in hospital on Sunday morning after an alleged altercation between two men who were driving in a car and  and a male and female pedestrian in Queen Anne Street, Dunfermline.

Two men, aged 25 and 29, and a 23-year-old woman have been charged with assault and are due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court later today, police said.

Mr Mahmood's family have said they are "finding it extremely difficult to come to terms with our loss'' and asked that their privacy is respected.

The death is being treated as suspicious but police have not launched a murder investigation as yet.

Officers said they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident but are appealing for any witnesses to contact them on 101.
