Woman robbed in South Ayrshire

A 51 year-old woman was robbed at Prestwick Cross.

About 9:50am on Friday the 31st of May 2019 a man and woman threatened the victim before assaulting her and robbing her of a three figure sum of cash. The woman did not require hospital treatment.

The suspects then made off in the direction of Prestwick Train Station.

The man is described as being 45 years of age, stocky build, shaved head wearing a dark coloured bomber style jacket and carrying a back pack.

The woman is also in her 40's, thin build with dark hair tied back in a pony tail. She was wearing light coloured trousers and a two tone light and dark jacket.

Detective Sergeant Jane Hogg from the Criminal Investigation Unit based at Ayr said:

"We are carrying out extensive enquires in the local area in an attempt to gather more information, with officers reviewing CCTV and speaking to local businesses and residents.

"I am appealing for anyone who might have seen anything suspicious at the time or even shortly afterwards to get in touch. The incident took place near to the bus shelter, which was busy at the time with members of public waiting on the X77 and 585 buses.
