First dates don't always go as planned...even for celebrities. From clumsy accidents, to cheesy chat up lines and brutal dismals, these A-list couples reveal some hilarious stories about how they first met.
Jenna revealed how Channing seduced her after giving him an ultimatum about their romance. She said: "He had gone out with all the dancers on 'Step Up' and had this crazy, wild tequila night. He said he had the chance "to be free" and he couldn't stop thinking about me. So he comes down to my hotel room at two in the morning and he's banging on the door. I'm like, 'What's going on?' He's in a sombrero, underwear, Ugg boots and he's like, 'Let's do this.'
Jessica Alba was so love struck when by Cash Warren that she would find any excuse to spend time with her future beau. "The first day I spent with my husband, we were just friends." Jessica revealed. "We went on a bike ride, [and] I just came up with anything so we could spent time together.” Her solution? Sweets of course! “I was like, ‘Wanna go get some licorice at the 7/11?’” she said. “It evolved into something more. I met my best friend, and that was a great day.”
They may have had a fairytale wedding and lived happily ever after, but Kate and Will's first date didn't get off to the best start. The pair were good friends while studying at St.Andrews University in 2001, but Will decided to take their relationship to the next level by inviting Kate out on a date - but it didn't go as planned. Wanting to make a funny joke, Kate tried a curtsey, but she fell over, and made William spill his drink on himself! Awkward!
Salma Hayek is the first to admit that her first date with her CEO beau "started badly"... mainly because she had no idea it was a date at all and admits she felt duped. She revealed: “I didn’t know it was a date. I thought I was going to an event, and then there was one person at it. I was set up by friends to think I was going to an event, because they knew I wouldn’t go on a date! I was angry. And he didn’t know, because he thought I knew he was coming just to meet him." What would you do if someone came up to you and said: "I want to father your children". Well, that's exactly what Michael Douglas said to Catherine Zeta Jones when they were introduced by Danny Devito at the 'Mask Of Zoro' premiere back in 1998. Obviously, Catherine was not impressed by Michael's forwardness choosing to brush him off with a sassy remark about his womanising reputation. She quipped: “I’ve heard a lot about you. It’s nice to know it’s all true. Good night.” Picture: Getty
Don't try ordering "just a salad" on your first date with Freddie Prinze Jr because he likes a girl who can eat, and that's exactly why he was so attracted to his wife Sarah Michelle Gellar after she passed his "food test". Apparently the actor would take a girl to his favourite restaurant and the number of courses she could stomach determined how many future dates! "Sarah made it through all eight courses and ate everything, so I married her." he joked. Picture: Instagram
Emily Blunt's husband thought his chances of dating the actress were so slim that he was too scared to "even say hi to her" and when he eventually did pluck up the courage he took on a trip to... wait for it...shooting range?! Speaking about his thoughts behind the bizarre date choice he explained: "I think that I was so sure that I would never end up with her, I was like, 'You know what? I'm going to blow it straight away and then that way you don't feel bad." Picture: Getty
Turns out a romantic dinner for two at an Italian restaurant wasn't quite as romantic as Joshua Jackson had hoped when he went on his first date with Diane Kruger. Unfortunately for the 'Dawson's Creek' star Diane was allergic to the flowers at the posh venue! She starts sniffling and sneezing for the next hour and a half," Joshua recalled. To redeem himself, he ended up sending Kruger flowers and a box of tissues the next day. Aww!
They may be the picture perfect couple now, but Gigi Hadid recently revealed she turned Joe Jonas down for a date when she was 13. We met at the Grammys when I was 13 years old, he asked me to a baseball game, and I said, "No". I was so nervous; I literally didn't even know what it meant to hang out with a boy," she explained. Hinting that Joe didn't know how young she was at the time, she added: "I didn't want to to tell him that I had school the next day, so I was like, no maybe next time."
