Beyonce and Jay-Z spend £1m on Blue Ivy

The new parents haven't spared any expenses on their baby

Beyoncé and her husband, rapper and music mogul Jay-Z, have spent around £1m to ensure baby Blue Ivy has the best start in life.

According to Star magazine the couple have splashed out on a £400,000 Ginza Tanaka solid gold rocking horse, a £30,000 Fantasy coach carriage crib, a £10,000 Swarovski studded high chair by Carla Monchen and a further £20,000 on a windmill playhouse and an undisclosed amount for a mini Bugatti car.

The "Best Thing I Never Had" singer also spent £240,000 to make sure all the nursery in her three houses look exactly the same, so that little Blue Ivy can feel at home at all times.

Beyoncé and Jay released a statement to announce the birth on their daughter, which took place in New York City.
"We are happy to announce the arrival of our beautiful daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, born on Saturday, January 7, 2012" reads the press release "Her birth was emotional and extremely peaceful, we are in heaven. She was delivered naturally at a healthy 7lbs and it was the best experience of both of our lives. We are thankful to everyone for all of your prayers, well wishes, loves and support".

Lenox Hill hospital, where Blue Ivy was delivered, denied that the couple had paid an exorbitant amount to reserve an area of the maternity ward, stating that Bey and Jay had paid the standard fee for such a request.

Proud dad Jay-Z has already released a song about becoming a father, called "Glory".
