Cheryl Cole's dress auction

An online auction of Cheryl Cole dresses comes to a close tonight with thousands of pounds being raised for the star's foundation.

The Cheryl Cole Foundation aims to help disadvantaged young people in the North-East through grants to the youth charity.

One outfit, a Philip Lim playsuit worn during her second year on The X Factor has already attracted ten thousand bids alone. Two more designer outfits are now up for grabs including a Julien Macdonald chain mail dress worn for the 2008 X Factor Final Ms Cole said: "I am absolutely amazed at the amount of interest the clothes have had and cannot believe how generous people have been."

She said: "When I was clearing out my wardrobe it occurred to me that the clothes I was bagging up for charity could benefit my charity, which is how the idea for the closet auction started."

How it works. The auction of Cheryl's dresses is a 'Lowest Unique Bid' auction, meaning that the lowest monetary amount not bid by anyone else wins the auction… So, if no one else bids 1p, you could win the item with a bid that low!
