Will.i.am thought about finding Cheryl a role in his band while Fergie took time out.
They were recently partying together in Cannes and The Black Eyed Peas star, also Cheryl's manager, wants her to be huge on both sides of the Atlantic.
As well as lining some high-profile collaborations he also had the idea to use her as a Fergie fill-in.
However, according to The Sun it was thought a Black Eyed Peas commitment would conflict a Girls Aloud comeback so the plans were scrapped.
In the meantime Cheryl is rumoured to be working with Usher and Christina Aguilera in a bid to relaunch her solo career later this year.
