"Everything changed" Cheryl Cole speaks up

Cheryl opens up about work, health, family, friends and eating "everything" in her first interview since the US X Factor axe.

It's been a very eventful year, what with contracting malaria and losing her US presenting job, but Cole has finally spoken up for the first time.

In an interview with the December issue of InStyle magazine, out on on Thursday, the 28 year old Geordie talks work, friends, dieting, happiness and being hospitalised with the virus she contracted on holiday in Tanzania.

"Everything changed after that. It was… a big change for me" says Cheryl about the illness that almost killed her last year.
"I had to take good care of myself and I was told to stop exercising and to gain weight to get well. I just ate everything" she says refreshingly, adding that this is why she looked a little rounder at the US X Factor photocall, before she was sacked.

"(Contracting malaria) opened my eyes to health and things I hadn’t focused on before." continues the singer "It’s now less about work, work, work and more about making time to chill and be with my friends and family.”

And spending time with her loved one is exactly what Cheryl did, starting with a Royal Wedding party at her bandmate Kimberley Walsh's house.

"I made all the sandwiches: egg mayo and bacon bits, cucumber and ham… I even cut the crusts off." says Cole "My brother brought some pease pudding down from Newcastle and we also had stottie bread. We took it as an excuse to eat all day – it was a disgrace and we all felt sick that night".

Not that Cheryl has been sitting around being idle all this time.
For starters she flew to Los Angeles to film a cameo in the new Cameron Diaz and Jennifer Lopez' rom-com "What To Expect When You Are Expecting", then she embarked on a new project, designing a shoe line for stylistpick.co.uk, which will be launched in December.

"If I wasn’t doing this, I’d definitely be doing something with make-up or styling" says Cole, who also admits she'd like to have her own fragrance out.
"That is a dream of mine" she says about the perfume project "but I would want to do it my way"

Whilst Cheryl does not want to discuss her ex husband, footballer Ashley Cole she does admit she'd like to have children eventually.
"I hope so, one day" she says

She's also happy to talk about losing her job on the US X Factor and being replaced on the UK version too.
In fact she only have kind words for this year's judge, Tulisa Contostavlos.

"She’s lovely. I’ve known her for years....people are surprised I say I’ll be watching and that I’m a fan of Tulisa’s, but all they know is what they read in the gossip magazines.... They base their opinion on something they have no knowledge of, they don’t know the facts or the truth and it drives me mad."

Cole also admits she wants to have more tattoos done.
"They are addictive. If it was up to me I would have my whole back done" she says "My friends say ‘Cheryl, please, you might regret it’, but to me, it’s art. You should have whatever you want and do what you want – what’s beautiful is being you. People are too judgmental and have too much to say about other people."
