The cobbles are set to collide with Albert Square if Coronation Street actress Wendi Peters gets her own way.
If you're a fan of both Coronation Street and Eastenders, then you're in luck as the two worlds could collide - well, kind of.
Famed Corrie actress Wendi Peters has her eyes set on Albert Square and has hopes to take on a role in the rival soap as the new landlady of the Queen Vic.
Turns out the actress, who is best known for playing Cilia Battersby-Brown in Coronation Street, lives only 20 minutes down the road from the EastEnders set in Elstree Studios, Hertfordshire, and hopes her connections could help her land a part in the soap.
In an exclusive interview with The Sun’s Bizarre column, Wendi joked she would like to fill the shoes of soap legend Peggy Mitchell, who became synonymous with the quote “Get outta my pub!”
"I would love to be the Queen Vic landlady, I could do that famous line." She told The Sun newspaper.
She added: “I’m 20 minutes in the car from Albert Square, can somebody sort that out?
“I am in Hertfordshire. It would just be so ideal. I don’t have to be northern, I can be anything they want me to be. A lot of musical theatre people seem to be going into it as well. So why not me?”
Wendi made waves on the cobbles when she first appeared in Coronation Street between 2003 and 2007, before making a brief comeback on the show in 2014.
Could she be headed for Albert Square? We hope so.
