Jake made the announcement on Twitter, but reassured his fans that the show must go on, saying: “So I hurt my thumb today had to go for xray and MRI scan but I will 100 percent be skating on Sunday.”

“I have not come this far to let a sore thumb stop me! Thanks for the nice messages.”

Professional dancer Matt Evers even revealed that Jake, didn’t waste any time getting back on the ice, tweeting:

“Today this one @JakeQuickenden injured his thumb quite badly,

“He went to A&E, X-ray, scans, cleared and braced up. He then got straight back on the ice. Nothing is gunna stop him. His attitude is incredible and work ethic is second to non. #believe #achieve”.

Jake and his dancing partner Vanessa Bauer have been strong contenders throughout the competition with the pair scoring an impressive score of 40 just last week.

They will compete against Corrie’s Brooke Vincent and rugby star Max Evans in this week’s final.

Get better soon, Jake!
