The popular TV host is keen to take on a new, personal role.

Rylan Clark-Neal wants to take a year off work to start a family.

The Big Brother's Bit on the Side host has become one of the nation's busiest and most popular presenters in recent years, but he's planning to take 12 months away from work when he and his husband Dan Neal - who he married in 2015 - start trying for a baby of their own soon. They haven’t discussed the logistics yet, though.

Speaking to The Sun, he said: "I'm already a stepdad but, of course, I'd like to have kids. Since day one I've always wanted kids.
I love babies. It is definitely something that we will talk about and discuss if, how, when and why. It's doable. It's always on the table,
it's just when the time is right. If I did have a baby, I'd be the sort to want a year off just to be a dad. There's a lot that I've got
to look at."

The 28-year-old is a step father to Dan's 17-year-old son Cameron, who he has spoken fondly of. Speaking about him last year, Rylan said: "I look at him [Cameron] like he’s my own. He can talk to me – I’m Dad, but he can talk to me about sex! I’ll say, ‘As long as you’re being safe!' If that was Dan, he’d be like, 'Stop it, Dad!'," he told Star magazine.

Rylan is currently tied up presenting the spin-off show in the evenings and then dishing all the celebrity gossip during his showbiz segment on This Morning. He also recently hosted his new quiz series Babushka – which caused a stir when it temporarily replaced The Chase on ITV.

Perhaps Rylan could get some advice from Hollyoaks actor Kieron Richardson, who is currently on paternity leave after he and husband Carl welcomed twins Chase and Phoebe Rae.
